Richard Bienvenue, CPA, a partner in the firm, is a 1993 graduate of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and has over 15 years experience in public accounting.
Rich is nearly a lifelong resident of Wellfleet, a small town located near the end of Cape Cod. Wellfleetians, as Wellfleet locals are known, have a reputation for being a bit different. They are creative, free-thinking characters with a free spirit and sense of adventure. While these traits have served many Wellfleetians well as fishermen, artisans, merchants and even pirates, they have also been valuable traits for Rich as an accountant, auditor and consultant. Not what you would expect to find in a CPA, is it?
Rich takes pride in his work and in being a little bit different. This has served him and his clients well and has resulted in the development of solutions and recommendations that save time and money. While many accountants focus on recording what has happened in the past, Rich also constantly asks and explores how things could be better and more efficient for his clients, and challenges the conventional thinking.
Rich has substantial experience working with municipal and non-profit organizations and has audited or performed special engagements for dozens of entities throughout Massachusetts. Beyond the traditional accounting and auditing engagements, Rich has a great deal of experience completing non-traditional engagements for municipalities and non-profit organizations, including forensic and special investigations, creating and implementing financial plans and strategies, process improvement and best practices, and resolution and guidance on complex issues raised by elected officials, Department of Revenue, taxpayers and others.
Rich also has a great deal of public sector experience providing interim accounting and treasury services to municipalities and has specific expertise on municipal health insurance issues through his service as Treasurer of the Cape Cod Municipal Health Group since 1999. Additionally, Rich is active in economic development issues in southeastern Massachusetts and currently serves as Treasurer of the Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation.
In addition to his public sector experience, Rich also has expertise in providing a wide range of tax and business services to corporate clients and high net worth individuals in various industries. Industry experience includes real estate, construction, contractors, restaurants, retailers, professional services, medical providers, technology and web development, broker-dealers and others. As a business owner, entrepreneur, business advisor and consultant, Rich has real world experience in business management, advisory and tax services, and in dealing with economic development and organizational governance issues.
With all of this experience and know-how, Rich and his MLB partners are responsible for leading our client service teams in a wide range of accounting, tax, auditing and special engagements and ensuring our staff and clients alike are up to date on applicable standards and emerging issues.
